Internal and External conflicts

In the story the narrator faces both external and internal conflicts. In the story he is in a canoe with the girl that she likes and has a fishing rod that has a bass on the end of it. The girl that he happens to like thinks fishing is boring, so he tries to be cool and not tell her that he is fishing at that moment. The bass was very large and pulling the canoe and in order to keep her from knowing that he is fishing he cuts the line. His internal conflict is if he should keep the biggest bass he has ever seen or keep the girl that he loves. After awhile he finally makes the decision to cut the line and keep the girl he loves. As a result of these conflicts the narrator changes by decided to not sacrifice what he loves for another person.
